I am 100% sure Shelley never said this, so I’m really confused about why it keeps being attributed to him! I vaguely remember once finding the actual source (possibly a female comedian?), but either way, definitely not Shelley! Misattributed quotes distress me.

I’d been hoping someone might mention something about this! When I first read the quote I thought it seemed nice but very unShelleyish, and since then I’ve been trying to find a source for it and becoming more and more skeptical as I searched. It definitely isn’t in any of my books, but it seems universally attributed to Shelley. It’s bizarre.
